Contract logisticsFrom warehousing to freight management

DSV operates 400 warehouses with a total capacity of more than six million square meters, and we are building in many more locations.

DSV offers tailor-made logistics solutions for e-commerce spanning a wide range of products, from sports, leisure and fashion to electronic devices and more.

Pick and pack is the core of fulfillment but DSV can also offer associated services such as financial fulfillment, e-fulfillment, inventory management, returns handling and customer service. In selected locations we can offer a total multichannel fulfillment service.

What are the basic processes involved?
Inbound processing
Inbound processing entails the handling of goods before, during and immediately after arrival at a DSV warehouse. During the inbound process, there is a constant information flow between DSV and you, the customer. This ensures that you always have up-to-date information regarding the status and the availability of your incoming goods.
Warehousing processes
The basic storage process itself does not include any physical activities. There are, however, replenishment movements and cycle counts. Replenishment involves transferring additional items of an article from a storage location (usually located high up and towards the back of the warehouse) to a picking location (located lower down and in the front section of the warehouse). Cycle counting is a physical check of the actual stock level compared to the number of items registered as ‘in stock’ in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Outbound processing
The outbound process entails managing and controlling outgoing items, from the point of order receipt through picking and packing of the items for each order and finally to the loading of shipments onto the delivery trucks.
Freight management
Freight management oversees the planning, execution and administration of all transport and distribution operations. Freight solutions include road, air and sea. You can monitor shipments from any carrier in real time, 24/7, using the myDSV track & trace platform or via electronic data interchange (EDI). Whichever system is used, you are assured of transparency and visibility.

Freight management includes:
Order management
Shipment planning
Freight execution and monitoring
Exception reporting and Proof of Delivery
Freight settlement (incl. freight invoice audit & client billing)
Performance reporting

To ensure that your requirements are fulfilled, we manage distribution services including:
Home deliveries
Value Added Services upon delivery (carry in, installation and consignment services, white glove deliveries and cold chain)
Returns
Repair services
